Meet Our Founder
Joy Wei, LL.M., TEP
Founder & Principal Lawyer
As the founder of Lyceum Law, Joy provides legal services in commercial law, wills, estates and trust law, and immigration law to individuals, families, and entrepreneurs across Ontario and beyond. Joy oversees all legal matters at the firm, with a particular focus on estate planning and administration, business transactions, corporate matters, and complex immigration applications. Her areas of expertise include complex wills and powers of attorney, trust deeds, probate and estate administration, shareholder agreements, incorporation and corporate reorganizations, commercial lease, and purchase and sale of business, etc.
Joy is a certified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). To achieve this goal, she dedicated three years to focused study and practice in trust and estate law and has developed strong, lasting connections within the TEP community. She is also an active member of Ottawa Estate Planning Council (OEPC).
Joy began her legal career in China as in-house counsel for Deutsche Bank. She moved to Canada and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2021. She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Commercial Law from the University of Leicester, UK and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Suzhou University, China.
Joy is deeply engaged in the Ottawa legal and arts community. She serves as Chair of the Multicultural Artists’ Coalition (MAC-CAM), is a Board Director at the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre (OCCSC), regularly speaks at events including the ones hosted by World Skills Employment Center and Immigrant Entrepreneur Canada (IEC). She is also a registered mentor of Futurpreneur Canada.
Joy lives in Ottawa with her family and is passionate about helping others navigate legal challenges with clarity, compassion, and confidence.

Ariadni Athanassiadis
Collaborating IP Lawyer & Patent Agent
Ariadni Athanassiadis is a Canadian intellectual property lawyer and patent agent operating under Kyma Professional Corporation . She provides complementary support to Lyceum Law through intellectual property (IP) and business-focused legal education, coaching, advisory, and drafting services for clients across diverse industries.
Ariadni assists with a wide range of business agreements and transactions—including asset sales, commissioned work, service, consulting, manufacturing, distribution, licensing, joint venture, and technology development arrangements.
She also helps creatives, innovators, and entrepreneurs protect and manage their intellectual property, from trade secrets and copyrights to patents in Canada and internationally.
When business disruptions or conflicts arise, she offers facilitation and mediation services to help clients resolve issues early and effectively.
Associate Lawyer
Eileen (Xianqiu) Zhu
Associate Lawyer
Eileen (Xianqiu) Zhu is an associate lawyer with a focus on wills and estate planning. She is known for her attentive listening and practical, client-centered approach, which enable her to build strong and lasting client relationships.
Prior to joining Lyceum Law, Eileen practiced patent law at an Ottawa intellectual property firm, where she developed valuable experience working with innovators, entrepreneurs, and businesses navigating complex legal matters.
She earned her Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Ottawa and holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering (M. Eng.) from the Harbin Institute of Technology in China.
Before pursuing her legal career, Eileen played a key role in developing telecommunications networks across Africa, collaborating with leading operators and contributing to high-profile engineering projects. This unique combination of legal, technical, and international experience allows her to approach complex issues with openness, strategic thinking, and practical judgment.
Outside the office, Eileen practices Krav Maga, a self-defence system with very little “art” and lots of action. She also enjoys reading, hiking, and watching Disney movies.

Legal Assistant
Wen Yang brings a strong business perspective to Lyceum Law, shaped by her background in economics and years of experience in Canada. Her understanding of local business practices and client expectations allows her to support the team with practical insight and a strong focus on client needs.
With extensive experience in administration and customer service, Wen is organized, detail-oriented, and dependable. She is committed to accuracy and professionalism, takes ownership of her work, and works with a collaborative, approachable style.
Her administrative expertise and client-focused mindset enable her to provide efficient, reliable, and high-quality legal support. Whether assisting clients, coordinating internal processes, or supporting legal matters behind the scenes, she plays an important role in ensuring a positive client experience.
Wen earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Carleton University and lives in Ottawa with her family.
